old joe to the rescue!

i was a bit confused about all this training business. since i'm training for both a 12 hour race and a 13 mile sprint time trial, i didn't know if i should do some sort of specialized training. old joe to the rescue. he suggested doing three days/week at race pace and four days/week long, endurance/recovery pace. i knew about active recovery but i didn't know you could ride every day. if the elite guys are working out this hard then maybe these workouts will payoff for this modest sport racer. speaking of modest, looking at the yankee results from the past two years, i'm going to retract my statement that i'm going to win. top ten would be more like it. there were a number of fast guys on the podium the past two years. there were even some fast guys who are now in the elite category who didn't even place. yikes!

i've got a LONG ways to go. I did a 15 minute warmup and then 25 minutes of HIGH resistance intervals. my legs were shaking violently at the end of the 40 minutes. i guess i build from here. four and a half weeks until yankee. that will give me three and a half more weeks to build another 20 minutes to the 95% effort workouts. hopefully, that will prepare me enough for yankee. maybe i should take the advice of another thirty year old; race for sex and fame. yeah, that's the ticket.

don't start drinking a lot again Alden. just think of all the hard work you have done to get where you are.
